CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS DADDY
THE WINNER OF THE JOURNAL BUDDIES GIVEAWAY!
As a Mom to 4 kids, I understand the importance of fostering self-esteem in our children. There are so many different things our children will encounter everyday that try to tear down or beat up our children's self-esteem and self-confidence. Jill Schoenberg has created a fantastic new book called "Journal Buddies" that was created to strengthen self-esteem, build healthy relationships and encourage creativity in boys and girls ages 7-12.
This award winning book will help you connect with your child and increase their self-esteem and self-confidence. This is no ordinary journal. This journal can only be completed with the help of their "buddies". These buddies can be friends, school classmates, Mom, Dad, teachers, grandparents, cousins, mentors, even a pet or imaginary friend! Best of all, your child can complete their journal regardless if their "buddy" has the book or not.
We received the Journal Buddies for a girl to review. Our 9 year old will be completing this journal because at times she really struggles with self-esteem issues. I think this book will really bless her and help her see the super great things about herself and increase her self-confidence and self-esteem.
Each journal entry has four parts to it. There is a "Thought for the Day" which are words of advice and helpful reminders. For example, journal entry #17 says "Self-esteem is how you feel about yourself and knowing that you are priceless in every way." The 2nd part of each day is qualities, traits and talents. This is where you and your buddy write down things that you like about each other. The beauty of this book is that you can choose a different buddy for everyday's journal entry and in the end, have 30 different points of views from 30 different people. The 3rd part is a Focus Word of the Day. It is an idea to explore or simply a word to think about. For example, confidence, kind, beautiful, enjoy, etc. You can talk about it, write about it, draw it, etc. It's totally up to your child! And last, there are blank pages (some are lined and some are not) for your child's thoughts, feelings, drawings, art, poetry etc. This is where their creative journaling can come to life.
Included in the Journal Buddies is a list of 89 creative journaling ideas. Even as an adult, I loved reading through this list and being reminded that journaling isn't just about writing down thoughts and words. I keep a prayer journal and a gratitude journal myself and this list inspired me to do more with them in 2011 than I did in 2010. With the Christmas season here, what better gift to give a child than the gift of increased self-esteem and self-confidence through a Journal Buddies book? Because Jill is passionate about empowering boys and girls ages 7-12 to understand and strengthen their self-esteem, creative talents and life-skills, she is giving one of my readers their very own Journal Buddies book!

This sounds like something my 11 year old daughter would love. She likes to journal, but sometimes complains that she "doesn't know what to write", this sounds like it would help with those moments. Thanks! mommy saves at yahoo dot com

I would give this to my 7 year old son Lucas...he's been having some behavior issues and I worry that some of it stems from self-esteem issues. I think this would be great for him.

I would LOVE to win the girl journal for my niece, Tristan. My sister just got her second divorce finalized this week and it's very hard on an 8 year old girl. I was 6 when my parents divorced and it was hard on me too. I can tell just by looking at my sweet little niece that she is mad at the world, bless her heart.
